Ride Lutii Transportation enforces a strict zero-tolerance policy regarding the use of intoxicating substances by our chauffeurs, and provides every passenger a clear path to report complaints — including to the City of Dallas.
Last updated: September 29, 2026
1. Our Commitment
The safety of every passenger, chauffeur, and member of the public is Ride Lutii Transportation's highest priority. We maintain a true zero-tolerance policy against the use, possession, or presence of intoxicating substances — including alcohol, illegal drugs, and impairing prescription or over-the-counter medications — by any chauffeur while on duty, on call, or operating a Ride Lutii vehicle. There are no exceptions and no warnings: a single confirmed violation results in immediate removal from duty and a full investigation.
This policy complies with applicable U.S. Department of Transportation regulations, Texas state law, and the vehicle-for-hire requirements of the cities we serve across the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex, including the City of Dallas.
2. Prohibited Substances
"Intoxicating substances" under this policy include, without limitation:
•Alcohol: any beverage containing alcohol, regardless of amount, consumed before or during a shift.
•Illegal drugs & controlled substances: including those prohibited under federal and Texas law.
•Cannabis / marijuana: prohibited for chauffeurs at all times while on duty, regardless of any state medical or recreational status.
•Impairing medications: prescription or over-the-counter drugs that may affect alertness, reaction time, or judgment, unless cleared in writing by a physician and our safety officer.
•Inhalants & synthetic substances: any chemical, synthetic, or intoxicating product used for impairment.
3. Chauffeur Standards
•Chauffeurs must report to duty free from the influence of any intoxicating substance and must not consume any such substance while on duty or on call.
•Possession of open or unopened alcohol, illegal drugs, or drug paraphernalia in a Ride Lutii vehicle is strictly prohibited at all times.
•Chauffeurs must notify dispatch immediately if they are taking any medication that could impair driving, and must not operate a vehicle in that condition.
•Chauffeurs must comply promptly with any reasonable request for testing from Ride Lutii or from a regulating authority.
4. Passenger Conduct
Passengers are welcome to enjoy alcoholic beverages that they lawfully possess in accordance with Texas law. However, passengers may not bring open containers of alcohol into a Ride Lutii vehicle in a manner prohibited by law, and may not use, consume, or be under the influence of illegal drugs during a ride. A chauffeur may safely terminate a trip — and is instructed to do so — if a passenger's behavior becomes unlawful, threatening, or unsafe.
5. Drug & Alcohol Testing
Ride Lutii conducts drug and alcohol testing of chauffeurs on a pre-employment, random, post-accident, and reasonable-suspicion basis. A chauffeur who refuses to submit to required testing, or who tests positive for any prohibited substance, is immediately removed from duty and is subject to termination and reporting to applicable authorities.
6. Consequences of Violation
A confirmed violation of this zero-tolerance policy results in:
•Immediate removal from duty and suspension of all pending assignments.
•A documented internal investigation and review.
•Termination of employment and revocation of Ride Lutii driving privileges.
•Reporting to the appropriate licensing and regulatory authorities, including the City of Dallas where applicable, as required by law.
7. How to Report a Concern to Ride Lutii
If you believe a Ride Lutii chauffeur may be under the influence of an intoxicating substance, or you wish to report any other safety concern, you can — and should — report it immediately. If you are currently in a ride and feel unsafe, ask the chauffeur to stop in a safe, well-lit public location, exit the vehicle, and call 911.
To report a concern directly to Ride Lutii Transportation:
Ride Lutii acknowledges every safety report in writing, reviews it promptly, and takes corrective action where warranted.
